贴春联的时候，最后一个字是第一声或第二声的，贴在左边；最后一个字是第三声或第四声的，贴在右边。右边的是“上联”，左边的是“下联”，先唸上联，再唸下联，最后唸上面那条横幅。

If the last character is a third or forth tone, it should be stuck on the right side. The one on the right is the "shang lian - the top line". The one on the left hand side is the "xia lian - the bottom line". You read it from 'top to bottom'. Then you read the one that goes across horizontally.
