People have have been through war, understand the preciousness of peace even more than others. When we remember the Seventieth Anniversary of the War of Chinese People's Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, we engrave history in our memories, commemorate the martyrs, cherish peace, and start looking towards the future.

For peace, China will persist in walking the road of peaceful development. The Chinese people have always been keen on peace. Whichever stage of development China reaches, it will never become hegemonic, it will never engage in expansionism, it will never visit the horrible treatment that they once suffered themselves on any other people. The Chinese people will continue to maintain friendly dealings with each country around the world, will continue to safeguard the results of the victory in the Chinese People's Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, and work hard to a new and bigger contribution for humanity.

Here I represent the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the National People's Congress, the State Council, the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and the Central Military Commission, in paying the highest respects to all the veterans, the old comrades, patriots and the military officers who took part in the war against the Japanese, as well as to the sons and daughters of China here at home and overseas who made a big contribution to the victory in the Chinese People’s War Against Japanese Aggression! And to express sincere thanks to the foreign governments and international friends who supported or assisted the Chinese people in resisting the invasion! And we’d like to express an enthusiastic welcome to all the guests and army friends from countries around the world who have come to attend this event today!

Today is a day worth remembering forever for people around the world. Seventy years ago today, the Chinese people, after persisting through fourteen long years of the trials of war, won a great victory in the War of Chinese People's Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and announced an absolute victory in the World Anti-Fascist War, and the peaceful light of the sun fell once again upon the continent.

The Chinese People’s War Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War were decisive battles between justice and evil, the light and the dark, progress and reactionism. In that terrible war, the Chinese People’s War Against Japanese Aggression started first and lasted the longest.

The victory of the Chinese people in the War Against Japanese Aggression is the first instance in which China won a comprehensive victory against a foreign invader in recent history. This great victory completely crushed the Japanese militaristic colonial regime’s attempt to enslave China, cleansing the collective shame of the Chinese people at suffering defeat by foreign invasions several times in recent history.

In this war, the Chinese people’s great sacrifice propped up the Eastern front of the World Anti-Fascist War, making an important contribution to the victory in the World Anti-Fascist War. The Chinese People’s War Against Japanese Aggression has also won widespread support in international circles, and the contributions of people of all nations to China’s victory in the war will always remain engraved on the memories of the Chinese people!
