Here I represent the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the National People's Congress, the State Council, the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and the Central Military Commission, in paying the highest respects to all the veterans, the old comrades, patriots and the military officers who took part in the war against the Japanese, as well as to the sons and daughters of China here at home and overseas who made a big contribution to the victory in the Chinese People’s War Against Japanese Aggression! And to express sincere thanks to the foreign governments and international friends who supported or assisted the Chinese people in resisting the invasion! And we’d like to express an enthusiastic welcome to all the guests and army friends from countries around the world who have come to attend this event today!

In the face of the invaders, the sons and daughters of China were unyielding in a bloodsoaked and hard-fought battle, completely defeating the militaristic Japanese invaders, defending the civilization that was the result of over five thousand years of development of the Chinese people, defending the cause of human peace, casting in memory a wonder in military history and the heroic feats of the Chinese people.

中国人民抗日战争胜利，是近代以来中国抗击外敌入侵的第一次完全胜利。这一伟大胜利，彻底粉碎了日本军国主义殖民奴役中国的图谋洗刷了近代以来中国抗击外来侵略屡战屡败的民族耻辱。

Zhōngguó rénmín Kàng Rì Zhànzhēng shènglì ，shì jìndài yǐlái Zhōngguó kàngjī wài dí rùqīn de dì yī cì wánquán shènglì 。zhè yī wěidà shènglì ，chèdǐ fěnsuì le Rìběn jūnguózhǔyì zhímín núyì Zhōngguó de túmóu xǐshuā le jìndài yǐlái Zhōngguó kàngjī wàilái qīnluè lǚ zhàn lǚ bài de mínzú chǐrǔ 。

The victory of the Chinese people in the War Against Japanese Aggression is the first instance in which China won a comprehensive victory against a foreign invader in recent history. This great victory completely crushed the Japanese militaristic colonial regime’s attempt to enslave China, cleansing the collective shame of the Chinese people at suffering defeat by foreign invasions several times in recent history.
