June 10, 2010 at 9:33 AMOh thanks catherine, I didn't see that. I'm still guilty of skipping posts with lots of chinese text, because I never understand them :-p
I don't think the question was really answered though. I still don't understand why 放 is in the sentence with that translation.

June 10, 2010 at 9:22 AMIn the expansion sentences we have:
卡放在包里。
kǎ fàng zài bāo lǐ
And the translation is "the card is in the bag". Why isn't it just 卡在包里? Doesn't 放 imply an action?

June 9, 2010 at 6:22 AMActually, on that same note (he says, sneakily replying to both), I've never seen 比较 used before - but I've just found this lesson:
http://chinesepod.com/lessons/when-%E6%AF%94%E8%BE%83-b%C7%90jiao-becomes-%E6%9B%B4-geng
Which I'll now study. Hooray :)

June 9, 2010 at 6:20 AMThanks Jason and Connie! (wish you could reply to more than one person!)
That explanation makes it quite clear, thanks. I still don't really understand how to properly use 比 and 更. Back to qing wen for me I guess :p
