Good lesson.  I don't know if that would work in the US though.  Someone may get offended if you assume they are Chinese.  “What are you talking about, I'm Korean!\"  Then you get sued and the hotel goes out of business.

Well said, however my point about checking with John was in response to Jenny's comment about drawing the line as to which words are acceptable and which are not. I suggested this as a possibility only because I am not familiar with the management structure. If I remember correctly, the lessons are not scripted, however, there is a basic idea of what is going to be said. If that is true, then there would be no way to prevent the word in question from being spoken. The only way to prevent future occurrences, if it is decided that policy should be changed, would be to maybe have a list of "inappropriate" words. That being said, I am not judging, just trying to help. I know you know that :).

While the term "pissed off" personally doesn't offend me, I can see how some people might be offended by it. It's impossible to please everybody, but with a company who I am guessing has a target audience of all different ages, I would only use words appropriate for a very professional setting. John is a native speaker obviously, so he could give some guidance if deemed appropriate.
