anybody heard about the 798 Big Factory Art District in Beijing?? Its a really cool place...I reccomend it if you like more avant -garde independent -underground -type art and sculpture...and the area is really hip too! Old factory complex that they converted into tons of little meishuguans!!

um i wish i would have known about this free admission thing last week when i was there!! Darn! about the art scam though...i think that i may have fallen for that but not completely...i was sketching on the bund (im an architecture major) and was approached by 3 young art students. They asked me if i wanted to go see a free art show down the street. So after much dialogue it seemed legit. So i followed them and hoped for the best. It turned out to really a big room of chinese art done by students. They mentioned that i could buy some if i wanted. I admired it and then politely declined and left the building without any problems. Now was that the art scam?? The next day in peoples square i was approached by 2 lovely young chinese women who spoke great english and seemed genuinely interested in me. After a couple minutes, they invited me to a "tea ceremony." A huge red flag popped up in my mind because i remember the discussion about this...So I smiled and mentioned that i had heard about this scam and that i wasnt going to fall for it!! They played dumb and totally denied it...but it was funny how suddenly they werent interested in talking anymore. They quickly ran away speaking very fast in chinese. I got a good laugh at it. Thanks for saving my butt on that one Cpod!!

ha ha! this DA made me laugh! I just got back from china the other day and can now relate to this stuff...i have never seen so many bikes...it was amazing...it looked chaotic but somehow it all works...everything you guys talked about was so true...i rode on the back of my friends electric scooter everyday. It was a little scary sometimes...ecspecially in the morning rush hour...so i just held on tightly, closed my eyes and prayed that we didnt get run over by a bus! The funniest thing that i saw was the undergound parking garage for the bikes. It had painted lines on the ground and bars to lock up your bike. I got a pic of that. So that leads me to a new question for you...Dear Amber, what is the deal with the spitting?!! I saw men and women spitting everywhere...pedestrians....cab drivers...bikers...everyone was spitting! Then there were some no spitting signs in some of the underground stations which were kind of funny looking...i geuss they are trying to regulate it to some degree...but seriously what is this all about?!

does somebody know how to say? "I used to be scared of X" meaning that you longer have that phobia or are scared of it anymore. "X" being the place holder for bugs, heights, etc... so would there be a "le" at the end of the sentence??

i have a simple question...in english if someone says "I love you" then the common response would be "I love you too". So how do you reply in chinese? Is it 我爱你也是?

This lesson again confirms the great chemistry between Jenny and Ken. It's always fun to listen to them.
