A-Mode Ultrasound
A-Mode is a one-dimensional display of sound waves. Each time a sound wave hits a structure, a spike is formed on the examiner's screen. The height and spacing between each of the echoes provides the examiner with valuable information. A-Mode scans are now mostly obsolete in medical imaging.
B-Scan Ultrasound
B-Scan ultrasound is used to create a two-dimensional, cross-section view. Multiple sound waves are emitted from the probe allowing the examiner to visualize structures.

- In a train station (I forget where): "Waiting room for disabled pregnant women over 65".
- In a hotel inormation pack, 北戴河 (Beidaihe）under the complaints section: "For an unpleasant experience, please contact the assistant manager on 2222".

April 25, 2011 at 2:58 PMWhat used to be CCTV9 is now called CCTV News. It's entirely in English and has the same content as the old CCTV9. I don't know when the change happened but it seems to be broadcast on the same frequency as the old CCTV9. According to the CCTV website, CCTV9 is now CCTV纪录 and CCTV纪录(英), two separate channels, though I don't seem to get these on my TV signal.

The term in the article is 社会工作服务团 (shèhuì gōngzuò fúwùtuán)
You're right the gōngzuò is the very same term used in the lesson.
shèhuì means society (or social here) - so shèhuì gōngzuò means social work.
Your right about the fúwù too - on its own it just means service so whereas fúwùyuán means a service person, fúwùtuán means a service team (tuán means a group or team).
So together it's a social work service team.
I'm not sure how to give your job title in Chinese , but mental heath is 精神健康 (jīngshén jiànkāng) and I guess mental health worker is 精神健康工作者 - jīngshén (mental) jiànkāng (health) gōngzuòzhě (worker).

April 15, 2011 at 3:40 AMI find this interesting because as an English teacher in China I've noticed a huge number of Chinese, even those who have been learning English for many many years, don't know how to pronounce the English /v/ sound - they need to be shown how to make this sound, just like we have to be shown/told how to make a pinyin sh or x sound.

May 27, 2011 at 3:46 AMIn the Olympics, I think the rowing was called 赛艇 (sàitǐng). Interesting - I'd still call this a rowing boat or row boat. To me, paddling is what you do in a canoe or kayak.
