Seems like it would be quite frustrating to have everyone assume you speak Mandarin all the time. Josh is the man. You should give him his own show. I'm so jealous... As of right now, it looks like I'm slated to invade the Mainland sometime in '09. Also good to be hearing from wildyaks in the comments again!

March 4, 2008 at 4:31 PMI agree with henning. In fact, I would prefer a semi-cohesive "series" approach to several of the topics. I know there are a lot of topics to be covered, but I'd rather take them in bigger chunks than bounce around to something different every week. For example, I would really like to see some follow-up episodes for things like compliments, measure words, 了, etc. The initial episodes for these topics have been very helpful in getting me started, but I have no idea if/when these topics will ever be addressed again so we can get the rest of the story. Of course, if CPod implemented something like a field guide to Chinese grammar (perhaps you could call it the Grammar Guide or something), this would permit me to further explore these structures on my own without having to badger the QW crew all the time. Wouldn't that be like the coolest thing ever? :-)

March 3, 2008 at 11:50 PMCome on, Clay. 就 pales in comparison with 了! In fact, I'm developing a pretty solid theory that the Chinese don't even use 了 at all, they just put it in their text books and such so they can watch all us ignorant foreigners struggle to make sense of it.

February 29, 2008 at 4:34 AMAh...now I get it. I was thinking maybe it was a noun, but more like "he has the craziness" or something like that. Now I see that that would've changed the verb too (有 yǒu instead of 是 shì). Thanks Amber!
