July 28, 2007 at 4:41 PMInteresting how "Track and Field" in Chinese, 田径, is "Field - Track". Does China have to do everything backwards? (or wait, maybe it is us Westerners that are backwards :P) East-north China Left-bottom corner ...

July 28, 2007 at 6:03 AMWow, thanks Changye for that list! I even went through them and checked them out with roll-over. Never realized that there were so many other than 嫉妒 妒嫉, which I had known before. Thanks.

July 28, 2007 at 6:00 AMMy take on that is that 真zhen does NOT mean "very", it means "really". So if you want to say "This is really good", you'd say 这个真的好. Yet I don't know how often that is used. Honestly, I think I say 真 when I should say 很hen. For example, Ioften say: 我真像见到你. I really want to see you. Yet I think I've been corrected (but can't remember, so I'm asking to be corrected ehre) that I shouldn't say that, that I should say 我很像见到你. Both correct? Should I only use 狠??

July 28, 2007 at 5:56 AMThe picture you uploaded was probably too big. It needs to be like under 100K or something similar to that. It doesn't tell you when your avatar is too big (which I think it should, since sometimes even though I cropped a picture, I didn't realize I was still over the limit), it will just bump you back to your profile and you will see your old avatar. Only way I know how to remove it is to right click on the default avatar (like Marwita01's above) and save it, then use that as your avatar and you will be back to like before you had one. -R

July 27, 2007 at 11:59 PMSecond Cousin? In English, when you say "second cousin once removed" is that your dad's cousin's child, or is that your dad's cousin, or ...? I know we don't use that term much any more, but I have heard it used, and since I am good friends with my dad's cousin's child, I never have figured out if he is my 2nd cousin, or if my actual cousin's child (dad's brother's son) is my 2nd cousin. Fortunately this is about as confusing as English family names get. Anyone know? And is there an equivalent to 2nd cousins and their offspring in Chiense?

July 27, 2007 at 9:21 PMOh, I moved the "little" character thing I did over to it's own discussion. Just look for a user discussion that starts with the same name as this lesson. Didn't want to keep clogging up these discussions with my crazy radical thinking. An families names... ugh, let me tell you, it never gets easy I feel. I spent this year's Chinese New Year with my roommate's family in their 农村 who has 7 uncles, his dad being somewhere in the middle of them all. So I thought, hey, I am going to get down family names on this trip! Uhh... I was still working on what my roommate calls his uncles when we left... TOO CONFUSING!

July 27, 2007 at 8:47 PMYeah, lucky Excuter got mentioned by Jenny. I only got mentioned on The Saturday Show, and Jenny almost差点 forgot to say my name! If I went by "Guy from Idaho" or "Uno" and then she would have said my handle at the beginning... ha ha. But Excuter, where are these "Sentences of the day"? I looked all over the forum and search for your name, but didn't see anything. 哪里哪里哪里?

July 27, 2007 at 8:16 PMAmber: "er... not that we're saying we're all of those, haha! ;)" No, we're saying that. ;-) Artkho: "I meant to write 照片 instead of 图片" Well, according to Amber's editing, 图片 is correct as I suspected. From what I learned, 图片 is an image or picture on a page on the web or in a book, where is 照片 is simply a photograph, usually hard copy. Please someone correct me if I'm wrong. When it comes to digital photos, as a file such photo1.jpg, or on a web page, is 图片 or 照片 used, or both? Which reminds me, still have this Lesson Request: More on computers; one talking about web pages and web surfing, and one talking about email (checking, deleting, forwarding, junk mail, etc.)
