Posted on: Scary Clown
November 1, 2007 at 12:49 PMIf 小丑 means "little ugly", is there any wonder that Jenny or other Chinese don't find clowns funny or entertaining? To me a witch would be a "small ugly" or whatever, and they aren't funny. So Chinese have put clowns on the same level as monsters and evil witches... no wonder. But it is still odd that Americans would find them scary.... I find them entertaining, especial when I went to see the circus or the rodeo when I was little.

November 7, 2007 at 12:48 PM问题: I see in the vocabulary Internet is 网络, but doesn't that mean just network in general? I know that even 网 can mean the 'Net as well, but then how do we distinguish between a network within a company and THE Internet. Isn't there a more former word for it? And are these words used the same as in English? I know Chinese isn't English, and English isn't Chinese (and ways of thinking are the same too), but it is fairly new and universal, so I was wondering if there is a 1:1 word translation in such computer terms or not. 谢谢
