January 9, 2013 at 7:51 AMAccording to 有道 dictionary, "single knob shower facet" is: 单一旋钮淋浴龙头
单一 dānyī Single
旋钮 xuánniǔ Knob
淋浴 línyù Shower
龙头 lóngtóu Facet
Thus knob here is xuánniǔ
旋 xuán = spin, whirl
Is that common Chinese?

January 9, 2013 at 7:37 AMVera, I thought longtou is facet... you know, both the two knobs (hot and cold, or one big knob to turn to hot or cold) and then the place where the water comes out....longtou, dragon head, sounds like it is the whole part, right? How about just the part you turn?

January 9, 2013 at 2:00 AMDom, I have found that users who used Skritter prior to their server change at the end of last year (just weeks ago) may still be using a cached version. Please go to your browsers options/preference/setting page and clear the cache. You don't have to clear your history or your cookies, just your cached files.

January 9, 2013 at 1:51 AMI'm looking into the Skritter problem....

January 9, 2013 at 1:51 AMAimeeb, good question. zhong_bide's profile says Brisbane, which is in Australia, and I guess I never asked if they do tipping or not there, or maybe Zhong_bide is not native to Australia? Guess we'll find out. :)

January 8, 2013 at 9:59 AMAnd I, an American, often say the same thing about "colleague". It is often used in China by Chinese people when they speak English, though.

January 8, 2013 at 8:59 AM下面人?(xià miàn rén)
Haha, ok, joking...下面 xià miàn means "Down under" ;-)
For Australian, say: 澳大利亚人 ào dà lì yà rén
You will get your 4th tone practice cut out for you there, heh. Just think about going down...under. :)

January 8, 2013 at 3:14 AMgala22, I see Vera has provided feedback nonetheless, as maybe they have decided, if time permits, to look at Premium students' work. Did you see her comment by going to the task tab? Yes, currently there is no notifications that a reply has been made, so you need to check. If you had a teacher, a teacher would tell you about the feedback and work with you on the given lesson.
And just to clarify, other students will not see your work or your comment as of yet. The Task page is only for your personal use and viewable only by a ChinesePod teacher/staff.

January 9, 2013 at 11:04 PMRJ, I got on to say the exact same thing. 旋钮, my friend said, is formal and not used. I then asked, "But what if you wanted to distinguish between turning on the cold or the hot water?" Apparently you can say lengshui longtou and reshui longtou.
