March 9, 2008 at 7:34 PMOK. I'm also confused with the use of "hai2shi" in this expansion sentence: 你只要回答对还是错，就行了。 It's not a question and so why isn't "huozhe" used instead ? I listened to the Qingwen Haishi and Huozhe episode, but still can't figure it out.

March 5, 2008 at 2:54 PMAnother extremely useful Qingwen lesson. Thanks ! How about doing a lesson on verb + verb object combinations ? For example, in the Grammar section of the forum, there was a question on how to use "xue2" and when to use "xue2xi2". Are they inter-changeable ? Can you always just use the short-form "xue2", or are there circumstances where you have to use the "xue2xi2" ? (to learn / study). There are other examples, such as shui and shuijiao (to sleep)... Maybe a Qingwen could shed some light on this ?

But there is a problem when someone explains their opposition in terms that go beyond cultural / religious reasons. (ie: equating transgender issues with marriage / sex with animals). I cannot see any logic in that type of argument, just hatred.

March 20, 2008 at 4:48 PMI would like to see a lesson on some current human rights issues and abuses in China. For example, suppression of religious groups, Falun Gong, journalists who are critical of the government, poiltical activists etc. Or would this topic be off limits for CPOD ?
