呆 dāi - means unintelligent/foolish/stupid
笨 bèn- is used to mean silly/idiotic/stupid
Both have very similar meanings, however 笨 is more commonly used.

You are right, "hézi" is the word for box or case - "xiāngzi" can also be used to refer to a box, suitcase or trunk :)

December 18, 2009 at 9:33 AMI had never heard of the term "to steep" either before this lesson, so had to look it up in the dictionary! It is interesting the different words used in 'American' English and 'British' English. I find it really interesting how some words are really different, for example
jumper/sweater
trainers/sneakers!

December 18, 2009 at 2:08 AMWe use the word 'duvet' in the Uk all the time. It's always so cold there that we need them! In England we don't use the word 'comforter', but in fact I rather like that word! Sounds more appropriate then a 'duvet'!
