March 1, 2008 at 11:16 AMmy mnemonics for the tones of a few "nan" 男 (nan2): a satyre :-) 难(nan4): the news of this disaster made me bow my head I didn't find a visual mnemonics for 南 (nan2). So I use more of a conceptional type: In Chinese, you say 南北 for North and South. So going from South to North, you go upward.
