maybe the difference between 还 是 [hái shì] and 或 者 [huò zhě] could have been added to this QW as it probably needs not more than two minutes to explain ... or two lines in this thread.

@deathblade13 you may want to listen to that podcast http://chinesepod.com/extra/qing-wen-%e4%bd%a0%e5%a5%bd-n%c7%90h%c7%8eo-is-a-many-splendored-thing A Chinese man years ago... + my Chinese friend's blunt answer ... may not be that common so. I'll check with other locals.

A Chinese young lady told me today that Chinese people never greet, salute or inquire about themselves saying 怎么样 She said that Chinese people may occasionaly say 你最近怎么样 or 你好吗 So it is wrong also to say that Chinese people never say 你好吗

My bet is that 我一直看她 has a romantic or obsessive connotation that 我总是看她 doesn't have. I think it's a safe bet as native speakers usually say things the proper way.

IMHO - writing characters on paper is fun and kind of relaxing. Writing on a Pocket Pc/Palm with a stylet is a very good exercise as the pinyin will only appear if you have drawn the character properly.

@sputnik, that's why the Chinesepod dictionary is great and deserves more publicity as you can find in it definitions that you won't find in academic dictionaries. for example, see 秀 translated as "show" + explanations in : http://chinesepod.com/learnchinese/finding-live-music/discussion

lunetta, I had the same problem on another lesson. If you clear your cash (in Firefox:tools/options/privacy/cache), the pb will be solved. I reported this small bug to support.
