Can anybody explain to me the function of 了 in the first sentence of the dialogue? (马上就要考试了.)  As far as I know, it's a particle used to indicate a completed action but the exams are going to happen in the near future. How does that work?

The last sentence in the expansion should be "they settled on ..." not " we settled on ..." 对不对？

I agree with u. I'm somewhere between Newbie and Elementry with my studies and don't think that this is a real newbie lesson. On the other hand, I had an Elementry lesson last week which was way more difficult than this one.

我爱月饼！ Eventhough I'm a foreigner. Great Lesson. I've learned, that you should place your mooncake somewhere outside for a while, before you eat it. So that the moon can look at it. ;) But I don't know if thats common everywhere around China.

The sentence in the expansion section "老板对我们的工作满意吗？很满意" should be translated as: Is the boss satisfied with our work? Very satisfied." 对不对?

In the expansion section there is the sentence: "你知道她在哪儿吗？" Doesn't the "哪儿" already indicate that it's a question so that we don't need the "吗" at the end?

My friend in China recently told me, that she's getting fat, because of eating to much. I don't know many other people who would say it that way. Well in the end, eating to much wasn't the reason, but that's another story. ;)

I'm afraid, the translation of the last sentence in the expansion section is wrong. 我们今天晚上吃什么？should be: What are we eating tonight? 对不对? ;)
