May 27, 2010 at 8:19 AMIs it correct to pronounce 好久不见 like this: háojiǔbújiàn ? Because two third tones follow each other hǎojiǔ, so hǎo becomes 2nd tone and bù is followed by another 4th tone and becomes also 2nd tone.
What about 你好吗?In another lesson you explain that you would rather say 好吗?than 你好吗?But in the expansion you use the expression 你好吗?My friend says that it's quite common to say 你好吗?She is from Xi'an. Are there local diffrences?

May 13, 2010 at 10:06 AMWhat you should keep in mind when you invite somebody to eat: An invitation includes everything. That means when you are going to a restaurant with the taxi, the one who invites the others pays for the taxi. And if there is any problem with the food. For example if a dish is not served, the one who pays is the one who has to solve the problem. So watch out and don't make the same mistake like I did. 小心 I don't know if thats the same all around China but thats how it is in Xi'an and it showed me that it's not enough when you can say: 我请你吃饭. To speak a language without knowing the culture is dangerous!

April 28, 2010 at 5:30 AMAs far as I know the expression 是的 (shìde) is the common way to response to a question with "yes". But maybe I'm wrong and you can also just use 是.

April 28, 2010 at 5:21 AMOk maybe it's my fault. Perhaps it's confusing me that the voice is slightly lower at the second syllable.

April 27, 2010 at 8:28 AMIn the audio review and the exercise it seems that the "天 (tian1)" in "今天 (jin1tian1)" is pronounced as a fourth tone. Is the pronounciation correct as it is or is it a mistake?

May 27, 2010 at 8:43 AMAnother question: When do you do use 还 and when do you use 也? Both of them can mean "also".
