August 10, 2010 at 6:54 AMI'm using the mobile app during commuting time and dish washing. for both it was important that the app is quick, responsive and error prove.
the new app has lost a lot of this power.
before I started the app, clicked sync, saw the latest lesson of my personal feed, clicked it and clicked listen. after a while (and ignoring the bug that you cannot play a just downloaded lesson) I got my cpodfix.
now I start the app, browse through each lesson feed of the randomly released lessons to find the lesson of the day. (for each I have to sync as well). once I find a new lesson I have to click "download" and wait. then I click listen. then the lesson starts downloading.
this basic functionality has worsend so dramatically that I do not even dare to mention the small improvement points that were necessary to make the previous version awesome. (you got it by mail anyway)
the latest android app is thus the perfect example of a Verschlimmbesserung.

July 1, 2010 at 2:33 PMplease check out advanced lessons with david and let us be able to follow John.
learning is not only about natural speed, it's about teaching. the dialogues are spoken by a native in natural speed anyway. besides bashing john for no reason i really dont see the point of your posts.

July 1, 2010 at 7:16 AMmy wife - native chinese - considers John's Mandarin better than most natives here on chinesepod (as most of them have kind of a Shanghainese accent). seriously, no change needed.

August 24, 2010 at 8:57 PMHi bolon, in the writing field, if you hold the middle button with 示 (shi4, show reveal), you will get an animation of the right stroke order. basic rule is to write from left to write, top to bottom. The little hooks mark always the end of the stroke.
