May 27, 2007 at 4:03 AMDude, Clarence, It's not that bad. Over a billion people speak the language. I am confident that many foreigners can learn how to speak Mandarin too. Marriage is a marriage, not a language lesson. Otherwise child support payments just might be coming. This is a discussion about child support. :) Here is a tool you may want to consider. http://www.sinosplice.com/lang/tone-pair-drills/

May 26, 2007 at 11:34 PM注音符號ㄅㄆㄇㄈㄉㄊㄋㄌㄍㄎㄏㄐㄑㄒㄓ ㄔㄕㄖ ㄗㄘㄙ一 ㄨ ㄩㄚㄛㄜㄝㄞㄟㄠㄡㄢㄣㄤㄥㄦ IMO learning bopomofo can be an extremely beneficial tool for learning Mandarin. Here is a page that can give the Mandarin sound for each of the above phoenetic symbols. http://www.mdnkids.com/BoPoMo/ There is something to be said about using this system for teaching foreigners how to speak Mandarin. For some, learning the sounds of Mandarin and having a symbol that represents that sound, and a new place in their brains for that sound, and new/fresh association for the brain to grasp-as opposed to having the brain re-network ie zh-ㄓ, seems logical. Sry about the run-on sentence. IMO kids in a Chinese bi-lingual learning environment would highly benefit from using 注音符號 for Mandarin and ABCs for English. A nice clear separation for their brains. A compartment for English, German, Spanish, etc. and a compartment for Mandarin. My logic says that if it would be good for kids, why not for adults? I have heard it said-not that that makes it true-that way back when China choose to adopt pinyin, that some consideration was given to foreign learners. The thinking was that pinyin would help foreigners get a grasp of Mandarin easier. Clarence Learning注音符號can really help. Fight dude. You can do it. Some meat to chew on. My apologies to the vegetarians out there. :)

May 26, 2007 at 4:57 PM真好笑. I miss the old PDFs where one could compare and learn Simplified and Traditional:(
