January 9, 2008 at 10:26 PMOh, I know this one but then I may also have watched it a couple of times. It may or may not have something to do with the male leading actor... ;-)

January 4, 2008 at 11:27 AMOuw, how can you be tired of romance languages, says the Italian Studies major who has become completely obsessed with Chinese herself. ;-) It's really interesting to hear about these cultural differences and how my Danish background makes me relate to both sides. I completely understand the Chinese when they feel uncomfortable with the American superlatives and compliments. My gut reaction is exactly the same and it can be hard even to say thank you properly because I get so embarrased. When I lived in the US I really had to work with this as it was easily understood as indifference or being ungrateful but I've become better at it. On the other hand I have no trouble sharing my opinion and asking question and all that stuff. It's expected right from the first day in school and is valued highly. It's one of those things that often makes it difficult for the Chinese students who come to study here. Other than our insane language, of course. ;-) I would alo like to know more about standard medicine in China. When you move to China what do you do to get a doctor and how do you pay for it?

January 1, 2008 at 1:45 PMChangye, the three languages does indeed all belong to the same language family and if they didn't each have their own army they might not be categorized as three separate languages. :-) I can easily communicate with most Norwegians and Swedes if they speak the standard variety of their language and I often read books in Norwegian and Swedish.

January 1, 2008 at 12:15 PMChangye, you're welcome. Don't feel sorry though, it's still an impressive list. Did you notice the similarities between Danish, Norwegian and Swedish? Maybe Henning knows Klingon? :-)
