December 16, 2011 at 2:23 AMIn colloquial Chinese, “这" ”那“ and "哪“are often read as "zhèi" "nèi" and "něi" when followed by either a measure word or a number plus a measure word. This reading is very common in both northern and southern China. It's also a matter of personal preference; some people still choose to read the “这“ “那“ and “哪“ above as zhè, nà, or nǎ.
However, if you're reading the individual characters by themselves, they're always pronounced as zhè, nà, and nǎ.
