Yes, we can use "zai + verb" to say that someone is presently doing something.
For example,
我在吃饭。Wǒ zài chīfàn.
我在开会。Wǒ zài kāihuì.

You can also say：他很善良。Tā hěn shànliáng.
善良 shànliáng adj. good, kindhearted
