When the apt. description says "city castle", it means it comes with a guardhouse and a moat filled with crocodiles. For >30,000 RMB/month, it should.

October 4, 2010 at 4:43 AMAnother use of 完了 - wánle is to indicate something is complete-ly finished or used up. Maybe the most common is 卖完了- màiwánle - sold out.

October 4, 2010 at 4:28 AMThe words for undergraduate and masters (degrees) Connie said about halfway into the dialogue. I didn't know them before:
undergraduate - běnkē - 本科
graduate - shuòshì - 硕士
For PhD (not mentioned):
PhD - bóshì - 博士
The same 《博》 as in 世博会 (Shìbóhuì - World Expo).

September 26, 2010 at 12:51 PMHi Catherine, looking forward to both of those! Yes please bring back the video lessons! I have watched a few of those and they are much better than the ones at CCTV or ICS. Much. I think so anyway. The average rating of each of the existing video lessons is like 4.93/5.00.
Also very much looking forward to your Chinese study tips, since there are and have been quite a few 老外 at C-Pod that seem very accomplished in 中文, you can guys can offer some *valuable* perspective on what it takes. Knowing what you guys already know and looking back at the road you traveled, how would you use C-Pod if you had to do it all over again, starting from 你好? What things to avoid? Any not-too-obvious technique that worked surprisingly well? Etc, etc. Thanks!

October 26, 2010 at 10:46 PMWow, that must have been terrifying, sorry to hear. Did they find the wallet??? If so how long it took them? So if you have the taxi receipt it's easier to track down the specific cab you took? Who did you call once you realized you'd left the wallet in the cab?
