Growing up in Florida as a Dolphins fan, my dad always said it didn't matter if I married a white girl or a black girl, a thin girl or a fat girl, a tall girl or a short girl, just as long as she wasn't a Bills fan. :) He later extended it to the entire AFC East. Unfortunately, most Chinese don't know anything about football. The NFL is trying, though -- they've been running informational ads on the subway in Shanghai all season. Hopefully it will rub off and become a popular sport so I'll be able to see it on TV regularly again :)

Changye, Cool, thanks for the further detail. I was under the impression that 洒 was used with liquid and 撒 was used with granular solids, but then Jenny used that 洒盐 example and my understanding was thrown into disarray! :)

What's the difference between 洒 and 撒? Jenny uses 洒盐 in the podcast, but in reading the news recently (with all the snow) they've been talking about 撒盐车, so it seems that they are interchangeable, at least in this usage. :)

shusan, I think you can say 失败者 for "loser." My wife uses it, but I don't know if it's a adaptation from the English, or really something that most Chinese use...

user15606, liquor laws can even vary by county (and probably city). My cousins lived in a dry county in Georgia, but they were near the county line so it wasn't much of a hassle to go to the next county over. Pretty pointless law, really, but what can you do?

AuntySue, guys (and presumably ladies as well) have the problem too, with upset stomachs and #2 -- we've only got one directional nozzle. Amber's right, if you're in the right position everything will take of itself. Of course this makes being able to quickly get into the right position every time -- even under intestinal duress -- of the utmost importance! Practice, people!
