May 13, 2008 at 2:59 AMchangye, 跳舞 (tiao4 wu3) is a verb and can be used as a noun too. 舞蹈 (wu3 dao3) is a noun. When used as a noun, 舞蹈 is more formal and refers to formal dance forms whereas 跳舞 is more general.
