jinkeli,

Yes, you can say 靠出口的座位。

bababardwan,

Yes, the word 公司/gong1 si1/ company is indeed there. 航空公司/hang2 kong1 gong1 si1 literally means 'aviation company'. As Ken likes to say 'you;ve made the connections.'

Light487,

Thank you for reminding us to cover certain pronunciation points.

Bill,

Thank you for the compliment! A total learning experience is indeed what we strive for.全方位/quan2 fang1 wei4/all encompassing.

tylersjzu,

中文也区别不同程度的瘦。Skinny是皮包骨头, slender/slim是苗条。

我常听到中国女孩儿说,外国人就算有点儿胖,脸还是瘦的,所以还是很漂亮。中国人就算身体不很胖,可是脸容易胖。所以我们有专门瘦脸的产品。

药物应该都有副作用吧。健康安全的方法肯定是运动。

Hi guys,

Thank you for your informative comments. They'll certainly help us make video an even more effective learning tool.

SpanishPod's 'cooking with Tobasco' video is a very good example of using sound, sight and comprehension to facilitate cognitive learning.http://spanishpod.com/lessons/salsa-bandera/discussion

Expect things like this and much more on ChinesePod!

The problem with veggie names is that there are often several names for the same vegetable. For example, tomato is both 番茄/fan1 qie2 and 西红柿/xi1 hong2 shi4; 土豆/tu3 dou4 and 马铃薯/ma3 ling2 shu3 both mean potato. And they are all quite extensively used. How we chose the words is based on collocation. For example, we chose 番茄/fan1 qie2 because it's used in ketchup 番茄酱/fan1 qie2 jiang4. But then you run into problem of fries 薯条/shu3 tiao2. Arrh, can't even relax around vegetable.

Maybe cucumber was yellow a long long time ago. Then, it mutated.
