When expressing suffering from an illness, we usually use '有' or '得’ (to get a diseas). For example, to suffer from lung cancer would be 有肺癌 or 得了肺癌。 I suffer from 过敏 is 我有过敏症 or you can say 我对很多东西过敏。

H1N1 is formally known as 甲型流感 or 甲流。甲 is an ancient word that means 'first' or 'number one' in Chinese. It is used to describe many diseases. For example, hepatitis A 甲型肝炎 or 甲肝。The word 乙 means 'second' or 'number two'. For example, 乙肝/hepatitis B.
Brain tumor is 脑瘤， 瘤 as in 肿瘤, meaning tumor. Autism is 自闭症.

Yes, the 'numbering system' does work "down" as well, e.g. 大妹 (dàmèi)、二妹 (èrmèi)、三妹 (sānmèi)、大弟 (dàdì)、二弟 (èrdì)、三弟 (sāndì), etc. And yes, 小妹 (xiǎomèi)/小弟 (xiǎodì) means the youngest sister and brother.

The measure word for a class as in a period is 节/jie2, which applies to also long classes lasting more than one period. Or you can also use 堂, 一堂课。It's exactly the same as 节。The measure word for a course (课程/ke4 cheng2) is 个。一个课程。
