Now many Chinese opt for eating out than entertaining at home, partly because it's not very expensive to eat out but a lot less hassle. Quite often, hosts would treat guests to some tea and snacks at home and take them out to eat.

@yingxiong and newbies in general,

Please be assured that no more newbie lessons for now doesn't mean no new newbie content. The value of a new lesson everyday is not only in the new material itself, but also in creating a learning event which engages the learner and generates meaningful discussion around it. This is our belief which we will stick to. So fear not, you will not be forsaken. We'll continue to create learning events for you.

@jgwilson,

There is no equivalent word of "pack-rats" in Chinese. You can say '不舍得扔东西'/bù she3 dé rēng dōng xi.

@euphonies,

Thanks for your comment! I did suspend publishing for a few weeks. But you will hear more episodes from tomorrow. Thanks again for your comment.

Too bad we don't have a word that means 'pack-rats' in Chinese.

Guys,

Thanks so much for your feedback about newbie lesson publication. It's very important for us to not turn lesson production into a routine without assessing what really helps you learn. With the end of new newbie lessons, we are really excited about exploring alternative forms of newbie content. A sneak peak, there will be a newbie product coming out next month which John and I are quite eager about. Stay tuned!

@babybob,

May I ask if you are currently on a trial subscription? It's valid for 7 days.

Good suggestions guys. Maybe we can do a letter trilogy: 'thank you', 'complaint', 'love'.

@jimijames,

You don't need to say 时差反应/shi2 cha1 fan3 ying4, just 时差/shi2 cha1.

The letter was written by Ellen, one of ChinesePod counselors. Her writing looks gentle and beautiful just like her.
