At the risk of bringing up that great imponderable of Chinese grammar, why is there a 了 in this sentence '跟你说再见了'? Equally in the last lesson on diet, I wondered why 突然发现原来自己这么胖 didn't have a 了。I thought that the speaker just catching on to a state of affairs was one of the classic usages.

That Lili is definitely a piece of work. Poor guy forgets to charge his cell phone and the next thing is his girlfriend is leaving the country with someone else. The least you could do is give Jiang Liang an episode when the Scarlet Woman becomes the Clean Up Woman.

John, you mentioned that the lesson was a little long. The fifteen minute format seems right to me. It meant you could go through the whole dialogue. Occasionally recently there's been a slightly breathless feel to some of the lessons as you've struggled to get it all in. I don't think it's a problem, it comes over as enthusiastic rather than frantic, but it was good to have a slightly more leisurely pace. Was the dialogue slightly less packed than usual, or was it just that it was a relatively easy one to follow?
