July 14, 2012 at 12:25 PMAge is only one consideration, the other is 辈份 seniority. If she acts like your mum, calls her 阿姨. If she is more the sisterly mentor type, call her 姐。
My suggestion is to be safe and keep to non-committal greetings 你好、嗨 etc until you have a chance to hear what neighbours of similar status as you call her. Follow the crowd. Most people (native Chinese) do this, because they are as confused about this 姐妹姨妈姑嫂 business as you are. :-)
