Good to have an enhanced About page. Connie, John, Clay and especially Amber should switch those pictures there, though. :)

Three are similar sayings in German: "Der Schuster trägt die schlechtesten Schuhe." "Lehrers Kinder, Pfarrers Vieh, gedeihen selten oder nie" The essence here is that professionals are worst when supposed to apply their know-how in their immediate surroundings. But that would acutually only fit when CPod tried to use podcasts for internal training.

Changye, according to that logic the "decline" started in February 2006 when the Podcasting lesson came out in its first incarnation. This is fundamental vocab.

Thanks for bringing back that subject! Three simple questions: That one troubled me since the dawn of time (almost): What is the measure word for 课程? 个 or 部? Expansion = 扩充? Exercise = 练习? The Fix = 补丁?

Thanks a lot Amber! The miracles of Chinese never cease to amaze me. Whenever you think you got it a simple 了or 会 comes along...

I guessed we got a little off-topic here - sorry, everyone. ;) feilipu, you might be surprised what I already needed in "day to day conversations". Besides, I encourage you to read Chinese news and technical articles - for me that was a real eye-opener. But maybe we should continue in the main Conversation section...

Oh, and the Intermediate and UI lessons mirror at least those conversations that heared so far in Beijing or when talking to Chinese here (except maybe that they use more Chengyus). For me that was and is the most striking advantage of CPod - unlike all the textbooks out there, this is exactly the Chinese that I personally experienced in China.

feilipu, I absolutely disagree. Chengyus are in no way comparable to the phrases you mentioned. They are different in usage, frequency, and relevance. Ever seen a better science paper using "wer im Glashaus sitzt"? Or "Eulen nach Athen tragen" as a verb like "der eulen-nach-athen-tragende Botschafter"? Chengyus permeate everything - from news reports to - yes! - spoken Chinese. Also see this post on my personal experience with Chengyus: http://chinesepod.com/connections/viewpost/henning/connect/Chengyus+and+Suyus+as+magical+spells

请问。。。A rather basic language question on one of the Expansion sentences: 你会参与网上各种各样的调查吗? Translated with "Do you take part in the various surveys on the internet?" I don't get the 会 in here. According to the given translation neither does it indicate ability ("can"), nor future ("will"), or conjunctive mode ("would"). Whats are its relevance and effect in the given case?
