Regarding the general vocab/translation issue: I would suggest that you interlink the vocab section with the related glossary discussion (or even blend in the user comments on demand at the vocab page).That way you have an ever-extending depth at the vocab.

which is translated as "Everything else is normal".
I know 项目 as "project", but lookling at this example it obviously also has the more general meaning of "subject", "point", or "item" (?)...

believe me, that way Light would instantaneously earn utter respect and a warm hearted welcome.
Many Chinese children hear those poems the first time from their mothers when they are about 3 years old (mine did). And those kids surely understand less of them then we do here. You cannot underestimate the importance of learning about those poems and their context.
I myself find this channel highly facinating. And if you personally don't get it, well, then just ignore it.

in the discussion you see some culturally loaded argumentation schemes that come with mutual misunderstanding.
E.g. where I come from (Germany), a mildly sarcasic comment like "how very generous of you" is a standard rhetoric move. And sarcasm is surely nothing that is considered "bad", especially not in a discussion. Values, values, values...

February 2, 2009 at 1:00 PMThe discussion between miantiao and alearner什么的什么的 is highly educational as it reveals some noteworthy cultural pecularities, e.g. the 大方-part. Hope it goes on.
I for my part will avoid discussing my own point of view (that the very concept of a "nation" is obsolete) in Chinese for quite a while to keep a language and cultural home-advantage.
