To be fair, there are new busses now with better sound quality, and pre-recorded standard Mandarin messages. Since Olympia they even provide English versions.

so why waste so much energy on littering the boards with texts that defy the very purpose of language - communication? (So far 176 messages in 2009!)
Even though you are still a young research assistant, I am sure that you have already learned the old lesson that teaching is not about demonstrating how advanced you are but rather about picking up your addressees from where they stand.
It would be a lot more helpful if you applied your knowledge with respect to the audience, by giving additional background on the language introduced in the lessons. E.g. by discussing nuances in meaning, the respective ethymology or dialect variants. And believe me, combining in-depth concepts with understandability is a much greater challenge than producing some secret code.
Yes, we would all welcome a second Changye.

maybe it is just me, but I have really trouble deciphering your comments - and that is not only because you use 繁体字, but also because of the expressions, vocab, and structures you use. They all seem very unfamiliar and neither my standard online dictionaries nor my Beijing wife can help me out.
Just curious: Are you mixing in some 方言 like Cantonese?

in the Tudou subtitles it is translated with 赛昂人 but on the net you also find the version 塞隆人 (e.g. in Wikipedia).
Yes, learning Chinese with Tudou and Youku can be fun. :)

I agree with Bababardwan: I also prefer to have all the language points before the second repetition. That way it has more memory impact.

This is a Mandarin learning site. For the means of communication we all refrain from posting in our various mother tongues here, e.g. German or French.
Posting in dialects or even some artificial "Chinese" languages is worse as it adds another layer of confusion. If these guys want to have fun with dialects, fine, go elsewhere or form a group.
Mandarin is fine. Just contribute constructively to the conversation.
And please, no insults. Even we 小巫 might get them. Having a beautiful and highly educated wife, I comfortably stand above the 黄面婆 insinuation. But it is indeed revealing.
