Oh, yes, when looking at go_manly's suggestion: Now that all works we can eventually have this one:

"[...]There are way too many "althoughs"  or "even ifs" in Chinese. 虽然, 尽管, 就算, 哪怕, 即使
Reading them: Fine. But when I try to  use them I am always choosing the wrong one. "

When I sent that suggestion in February I was told that such a QW could not be done before the new AMS arrives.

:)

Based on this thread I acquired the Bamboo One.

I have to admit, I am still quicker and more precise with a mouse. But I keep on trying...

Most important move of CPod since the dawn of time.

I've been using both CPod and Skritter in parallel since quite a while now, with Skritter becoming more and more the center of my learning.

Thanks, Jenny...

And a brilliant association from mother-in-law to dinosaurs.  ;)

When my first son was born, not only was I present in the delivery room, but also my mother in law.

The second one arrived earlier than my mother in law could hit the plane to Germany.

iaophil,

I just re-listened. In the podcast all that is said is that a *place* needs to be sandwiched - the more general term *object* is not used.

I found the following explanation on the web:

Where should I place the object of a sentence if a directional verb complement is used?

A simple object, such as a noun without a number word and measure word; a noun without a descriptive clause; and in particular an object which is a place word e.g., 家, 学院... should be placed in the middle of a combined complement.

s.                                    v.    complemnet                                       simple o.                                    or

tā

SHE

zŏu   jìn

走   进

WALK  IN

fángjiān

房  间

ROOM

lái

(TOWARDS)

She walked into the room. (The speaker is in the room.)

Normally a complex object such as  a noun with a number, measure word or a descriptive clause can be placed after the combined complement 去 or 来 .

s.                      v. + complex complement                                 o.

SHE

ná chū lái le

拿   出   来   了

TAKE OUT (TOWARDS) LE
