Thanks Amber. So it is used like the English "you" is sometimes - as an placeholder for an undefined third party (in the sense of "he would fight until the bitter end with you")?

Lots of meat today. I have a small question. In the dialogue you find the part: ...跟你拼到底... I wonder why there is the 跟你 - with you? I also still digest the "你准备就这么搬了", chasing the "just like that" in it. But I feel I grabbed it with the "就这么".

In the 2nd exercise (mapping) on the Chinese side 小人 and 开张 appear two times each. Each of the two 开张s can be mapped to a different translation ("to open for business" or "open"). The same for the 小人s. Adds a certain luck factor to the game... ;)

That question AuntySue asked on April 19, 2006 is actually a good one, although I guess the answer will probably go beyond Newbie level (but on the other hand AuntySue probably is now somewhere at Upper Intermediate anyway). There are so many ways to say "and", and each one of them seems to have its own distinctive function and usage context. Those I remember so far: 和,　根，, 并, 与, 而, 而且, 并且,　以及,　。。。 (hé, gēn, bìng, yǔ, ér, érqiě, bìngqiě, yǐjí, ...)

Jenny, 谢谢你的帮忙！现在清楚多了。 我觉得这些中国机构是是十分头疼的。 我对这样词汇和内容一问三不知， 不过看中国新闻知道它明显是很重要地。 我可以想象在未来有一两关于这个主题的课。。。

不好意思, 我对于一个在文件上的句子不太清楚是什么具体的意思: "针对此次造访石家庄机场上方的不明发光体，石家庄市科协天文科技辅导员协会会员、青少年宫科普部天文科技辅导员白石分析认为：这一不明发光体不太可能是大行星。" 对我来说那部分是十分复杂: "石家庄市科协天文科技辅导员协会会员、青少年宫科普部天文科技辅导员白石" Now there is some kind of astronomical council (?) in the city of 石家庄 with a an adolescent (???) counsellor named 白石 (?) who we will learn later is our astronomy expert. And then we still have 宫科普 which I do not know how to translate at all. I could piece together the rest of this entertaining little article, but this sentence remains a complete mystery to me.
