This sometimes makes the easiest events the hardest to express, 比如说: - He jumped from the bridge. - He went over the bridge. - He went onto the bridge. - He went under the bridge. - He came to me over the bridge. - He came to me from under the bridge. etc. 哎哟。 在， 从，到， 过，上， 下， 我觉得所有的介词都很头疼。

And I did exactly did that one wrong in today's practice session [but it was obviously my stuttering-day anyway ;) ] So Amber and Jenny did you check whether you are relatives?

August 30, 2007 at 5:35 AMI always use "头" for boss. But I am not certain if 头 and 老板 are 100% interchangeble in daily usage. Can I address my boss with 头早 instead with 老板早?

August 29, 2007 at 12:52 PMHi malide, 拉屎 lāishǐ a *much* more direct expression for the discussed activity. My Chinese collegue contrasted that with the 上大号 from the lesson which he thought is rather for "girls". Besides: there are some characters with the 尸-radical (shī) that are pretty graphic. Meant to be never forgot. (;

August 29, 2007 at 6:43 AMIt took my son a while to get the tones right for that. 巴巴 (with the pronounciation bǎba) and 爸爸 (bàba) need to be pronounced very carefully!

September 1, 2007 at 8:16 AMCornelia, it is the 没 in front of the verb 干 that indicates past tense here. 了 cannot be used for negative sentences.
