June 16, 2009 at 6:04 AM@misterjess, 你的中文进步好快!Amazing! I don't mind you calling me that. 但是我没有那么神秘啊!
@xuchen, 哦!那或许你可以再起个nickname, 徐灰!呵呵!

June 16, 2009 at 3:59 AM@xuchen, exactly, 吝啬,lìnsè,both fourth tones! We have a saying: 铁公鸡一毛不拔,tiěgōngjī yīmáobùbá

June 16, 2009 at 3:22 AM@cinese, it's 你怎么这么说?, but the man is putting it a little bit fast.
@xuchen, one of my best friends is really really lazy, every time she answers a call, she'll just "嗯,嗯!好!再说!行!嗯!嗯!bye!" or " 喂!好!拿走了!后天!嗯!对的!是!bye!" I don't know exactly she's talking about!

June 16, 2009 at 2:38 AMOh! I'm a bad person! I did this before, my package came the second day and I was totally freaked out by their service. I yelled at their employees and told them to come again the next day. (Sorry! the poor guy) There must be a reason for that!

June 16, 2009 at 2:02 AM@greasy8, The diffrence between "为" and "给" lies in the formality, when they both mean "for". But in the saying"我为您服务", or "为人民服务", it's better to use "为", "为" is formal. "给" is frequently used in oral English, eg. "你给我倒杯水", "我给你买了一块巧克力", etc.

June 15, 2009 at 8:25 AMHi lampa77, not all lecturers are 教授,jiàoshòu,they may be jiǎngshī, 讲师(instructor). "professor" is "教授", and associate professor is "副教授" fù jiàoshòu. “Tutor” is 家教 jiājiào or 导师 dǎoshī in Chinese. Cheers!

June 15, 2009 at 7:24 AM@hadley, it's better to call your coach "jiàoliàn" (教练), you can say "wǒ shì pīngpāng qiú xiàlìngyíng de yīyuán"(我是乒乓球夏令营的一员), "I'm a member of this table tennis camp".
@misterjess&fronk, I'm not telling! 21,haha, thank you!

June 15, 2009 at 3:40 AMI have the same experience, but it's a little bit different from this one. I'm wondering if I look much older than my real age. Someone asked me "你是老师吗?", I didn't know how to answer, and I said “why?"

June 16, 2009 at 7:41 AMThe song "你是我的玫瑰你是我的花" reminds me of the days I spent in the industrial park in Shenzhen! The employees love this 网络歌曲 a lot. And the weird way of enjoying their music impressed me a lot! They would take their phone (山寨机,knock-off mobile phones or clone mobile phones ) in their hands and play loud music, sometimes murmuring with the song.
