July 15, 2009 at 5:17 AM@mnspg, both 张小姐的家 and 张小姐家 are correct, and "的" is here to imply the possessive relationship between "张小姐" and "家", "的" can be left out.

July 15, 2009 at 4:03 AM@xiaophil,
@christine30550, 1) Basically, "冻结" has two meanings, one is the abstract one, eg, to freeze a bank account; another one is the real freeze, but we seldom say "冻结" in this situation, "冻住", "结冰" are commonly used!
- the lake froze (in winter)?
- he froze to death?
Pizza"
2) 节日补贴: this is a compensation different from the statutory (min.) 300% vacation-加班费.This can be cut, of course, 'cause there is no law requests to give employees 补贴.
3) Good question, 细水长流 means to economize to avoid running short; to go about something little by little without a letup, "细"(adj) here means "fine, tiny" (stream of water)

July 15, 2009 at 2:55 AM@wjefferys, it has something to do with traditional Chinese culture "modesty", when you get a compliment, you are not supposed to say "thank you!", but "哪里哪里!” or "没有没有” instead. It's a cultural saying, actually, there are more and more people prefer to say "谢谢" these days!

Voice of America-normal speed, it was a mission impossible,
