August 24, 2009 at 3:23 AM@bodawei, sometimes we say this not because we do want to keep in touch, but, just a friendly and polite way to say goodbye. (We don't need to say this to the ones we really want to keep in touch.)
"保重" Bǎozhòng, is not a translation of a western phrase, we do have this equivalent saying in Chinese. It's traditional and can be dated back to ancient times.

@bodawei, in the market (菜市场), the vendor's prefer to use "斤", but in supermarket (超市), they use "公斤".

@egret, it's the lunar calender birthday I guess, your lunar calender birthday is more than one month early than your birthday. Some of my friends will celebrate twice, to get more presents and fun. But, the older generation prefer to celebrate their lunar calender birthday, just keep the tradition.
