I guess the most popular greettings for this time of the year would be "过年/春节回老家了吗?" “什么时候回来的?” etc.

Yes, 雪xue3 can be substituted for 冰 bing1.

You can say "路很滑(lu4hen3hua2)" if you wanted to warn somebody about to leave by car.

Hi philipjd,

“慢性子”的人主要是指做事情比较慢的人。跟“慢性子”对应的是 “急性子”。

Hi Jackfrombelgium,

Normally, Ji4gei3 can be followed by a person, while ji4dao4 can be followed by a place. For example,

你想寄给谁?ni3 xiang3 ji4gei3 shei2?---Whom would you like to send it to?

wo3 xing3 ji4gei3 ta1.---- I would like to sent it to her.

你想寄到哪里?ni3 xiang3 ji4dao4 na3li?--- Where would you like to send it to?

wo3 xiang3 ji4dao4 mei3guo2.--- I would like to send it to America.

(bu2guo4 yong4 'guo4hou4' geng4hao3---but using 'guo4hou4 is better')

Normally, if it's a festival, we use the verb '过',which means 'to spend;to celebrate'. For example, 过新年guo4 xin1nian2---to celebrate New Year、过圣诞节guo4 sheng4dan4jie2--- to celebrate Christmas.
