Bazza, it's like 谁 in 谁都知道 (everyone knows), 谁 doesn't mean 'who' but 'anyone / everyone' 。 Likewise 什么什么 is not 'what' but 'anything / something'. In other words, 谁/什么 can be interrogative pronouns but also indefinite pronouns. I hope I got the grammar at least 差不多 here！

John said, this is not vocab for daily conversation, but what about 扯天扯地 (chětiānchědì) 'chitchat', isn't that a lot of 谈家常 (tán jiācháng) is about the weather ;-)

that's the recording that I sat through when I visited CPod last month! anyway, some more vocab: 阴天 (yīntiān) overcast, cloudy day 晴天 (qíngtiān) fine, sunny day 雾气 (wùqì) fog 冰雨 (bīngyǔ) sleet 冰雹 (bīngbáo) hail stone 下雪 (xiàxuě) to snow 雪暴 (xuěbào) snowstorm 华氏度 (Huáshìdù) degree Fahrenheit

anything stronger than 算了? I used this a lot in Shanghai recently with these annoying / harrassing people offering watches, DVDs and such like. Is 得了 (déle) as indicated by changye stronger, how about 讨厌了 (tǎoyàn), 让开(ràngkai)？
