November 19, 2007 at 5:28 PMpulosm, here we have 让我自由发挥 (ràng wǒ zìyóu fāhuī), so how would you translate 发挥 in this context ? Wenlin has (1) to bring into play; give free rein to and (2) develop (an idea/etc.); elaborate. I guess 'freely express myself' does capture the latter.

November 20, 2007 at 2:48 PMagreed with RonInDC, Not One Less (一个都不能少) is great, quite moving too. As far as I remember wasn't too difficult to follow. Don't try Hou Hsiao-Hsien, most of the movies are in dialect. There's also The Wedding Banquet 喜宴 (xǐyàn) from Ang Lee's (李安) which is good fun and I think not too difficult.
