March 31, 2008 at 11:55 PMI agree with Heruilin. This lesson was definitely a good bridge and a real challenge for me, but I loved it! Great vocab and grammar I usually never learn this many new words in a lesson. Oh and you think being a Yankee fan in Boston is bad... try being a Met fan.... in New York... haha! New York is a great city to learn Chinese I think. A lot of people always think of Chinatown in Manhattan but there are a ton of other Chinatowns in all the boroughs. There are two I know if in Brooklyn and another in Queens. The only thing is you'll be hard pressed to find simplified characters, but you absolutely can find a good deal of people you can speak with in Mandarin.

March 29, 2008 at 8:34 PMI believe tong4 is used far more often than teng2 in Taiwan for any out there wondering. It kind of threw me off too. I asked a friend and he said for sure that teng2 is heard mostly from mainland speakers. I don't think it has quite the same meaning in Taiwan as well.

February 29, 2008 at 10:54 PMDoh... still having issues with the Listen and type. In Firefox it doesn't show up in the text input field. :/ A couple interesting phrases here, but yeah.. kinda short. And the expansion gets really easy to answer when the same sentences are used in both parts. Still keeping my hopes up with the listen and type tho.. love the idea ;)

February 25, 2008 at 12:31 PMOk I can hear the audio fine now, but found another potential issue. At first I didn't think I was typing at all, but thanks to Lunetta's info, I was now aware that the input box shows at the top left of the screen. I tried IE and Firefox. In IE you don't see a character represented until you hit ENTER, and in Firefox it just doesn't seem to show up at all.. had to copy and paste from MS Word. Again i think this is a great addition so if you need any other information to bug zap please let me know. Oh.. am using MS Pinyin MIME 3.0 toggled for traditional.

February 25, 2008 at 1:31 AMWow! Really excited about the new lesson exorcise but it seems that, just like with the expansion, the audio is very unreliable... anyone else have this problem? Oh and maybe I'm too n00b but I thought this lesson was good as far as difficulty... maybe only slightly under par with the others.

I've been going through each and every Qingwen and managed to knock off 24 in a week! Almost back up to speed... They are so addicting! So I guess it's technically different but conveys the same meaning more or less? Cool...
