I think the closest thing to calling someone a wuss would be saying 他胆子小 ta1 dan4 zi xiao3, which I think is grammatically correct, but maybe not very colloquial? We'll need some more help in this department!

It is a sad ending, but that's how life is, and even though you can hear the hurt in Zhang Liang's voice, I think he's doing well in moving on. We all loved the story and are sad to see it end, but as the oracle says in The Matrix: everything that has a beginning, must have an end. To try to force out more chapters of the story would, in my opinion, ruin its beauty.

Wushu, here's some more English to learn: TMI It's means Too Much Information, as in, Too Much Information about what your girlfriend does to your 屁股. In other words, your story got a little too personal! Passion, I still learn very basic things from CPod like, 你过奖了。All you need is a strong motivation, and the right atmosphere, so yes, learning in China/Taiwan helps a lot.

I meant

胖起来 is not a compliment. Where does it say that it is? 发福 is the nicer-sounding way of saying 胖起来, maybe that is what you're confused about?

I liked John's reaction in the beginning "we're so sexist!" Funny, yet subtley critical. Yeah, when I was in China, I saw lots of middle-aged men with "life saver" bellies, but what was worse was that they rolled up their shirts into a bunched up top 'cause it was hot, just enough to cover their man-boobs but exposing their big ol' bellies for all to see. Yeah, men need to lose weight too! This was in Beijing by the way...I don't know how Shanghai is.

Judging from Man2Toe's article, in the past it was China that paid tributes to Tibet! And as late as the Ming dynasty, the emperor considered Tibet sovereign. It wasn't until the Cultural Revolution that China solidified its occupation of Tibet. The Cultural Revolution destroyed a great many things in China, so Han Chinese suffered just as Tibetans sufferred...the important difference was that Tibetans sufferred at the hands of a foreign power whereas China's mainland people sufferred at the hands of their own government and their own misguided zeal.

My knowledge of Tibetan history isn't very deep, but I highly doubt that it was "always a part of china". This depends how far in history you go. If you go all the way back to the beginning of Chinese history, then only the area around the Yellow River was truly Chinese. I believe Tibet, Xinjiang, and Mongolia were all recent conquests of the Qing Dynasty, am I correct?
