Well my teacher answered my question. 外接电源 is the cord that always comes with a laptop, and charges the battery.

电源线 is the cord that all electrical devices with power cords have. (refrigerators, lamps, alarm clocks, etc.)

I'm getting hung up on the word 外接电源. Does it mean the power cord that always comes with a laptop? Or something else?

So can 肥皂 be laundry soap or body soap, as long as it's solid?

Gosh, I'm a native (American) English speaker and I can read bodawei's translation, and I still had to google it for more information. I get it now -- I think what was tripping me up was the missing noun. WHAT "Wears the soap"? I understand this is part of the joke, but it just doesn't make sense grammatically.

Just listened to this lesson. I loved everything about it. But then, as a musician, I am biased. Thanks for the wonderful lesson. Length was great. The length of the poems you choose is perfect.

The "hui2" character 回 is missing from the 1st page of the PDF, at the bottom of the page, "jin1tian1 hui2lai".

Another question regarding water -- when I was in China the water that came out of the hot water machines was called "kai shui". I don't remember what tone "kai" was. Does this mean anything to anyone else? What are the characters for it?

Edit to add: I just answered my own question -- 开水. kai1shui3. Boiled water. Not sure why I could not look this up before and was able to find it so easily just now. (I went to zhongwen.com)

@pearltowerpete : I second that.

And my (American) mother has been extolling the virtues of apple cidar vinegar for years. I think she drinks a bit every day.
