That is the best proverb I have ever seen!

Me too, 哈哈. ^_^
Pete, I have tried to figure out what \"vivid\" means. Is it correct to call that proverb vivid?

much ado about nothing
蜀犬吠日

I think the swedish version of this is "Mycket (A lot of) skrik (screaming, yelling) för (for) lite (little) ull (wool) sa (said) kärringen (the old lady, the old bat) som (who) klippte (shaved, sheered) grisen (the pig)." ^_^

gabeltron,

most lessons come with listening exercises. In this one, why not use the expansions sentences. You can hide the english translation by clicking the grey cogwheel on the top of the page, right side :)

The numbers indicate tone. 1= first tone, 2=second tone, ..., 5=neutral tone.

bettine,

I hope thay had something more than dresses to wear during the winter ;) I have posted this question on a forum for clothing history. I hope to return with something interesting.

changye 老师,

maybe you know something about the use of tiao2 for trousers? Some western countries measure trousers in pairs (or shuang1 if you like).
