January 1, 2008 at 5:06 PMI agree with timbrace and disagree with hei long. WHAT FRICTION?? Question: 理发师 what is the correct pronunciation? I see in the lesson that 发 is pronounced "fa1", but hair dresser is li3fa4shi1.

January 1, 2008 at 4:01 AMCpod. I live in San Jose, CA which has a very large number of Chinese. How about publishing a menu with Chinese, pinyin, and the typical English translation. One way I practice my Chinese is to go a restaurant and order in Mandarin. I'm some what limited in the number of items that I can order. I would like to order something other than 宫保鸡丁 and 炒饭 :-)

November 22, 2007 at 3:56 PMOh, yes. How do you say "stuffing" in Chinese? Bazza, at Christmas the traditional American meat is ham. I can still go for turkey though! Hope your holiday in China was great!

November 22, 2007 at 3:54 PMMy wife, who is from Taiwan, told me that they don't use the term 土豆泥, but rather a different term which I don't recall. It would be interesting sometime to have an Elementary lesson on the how people on the Mainland and people in Taiwan use different Mandarin words for the same things.

November 22, 2007 at 6:22 AMJenny, If you think turkey is too dry, add some gravy to it and it should taste fine! Happy Thanksgiving, CPOD!

November 13, 2007 at 3:41 AMAh, poor Li Yan. Crash and burn as they said in "Top Gun". Wonder what will happen to Mr. Shu Daizi if Yang Jie warms up to him???? Ron Paul? Probably one of the more honest politicians. He sticks to his principles. But IMO the pickings are pretty slim.
