April 28, 2012 at 10:27 AMIf you go through lots of Intermediate lessons, you will find that 95% will have 的 after the adjective where 挺 is before the adjective. It is just kind of like a structure you know 挺。。。的. Think of the 太。。。了 pattern, you are always taught to leave the 了 in, but there will be rare occasions where 了 will be taken out. From my point of view, I would always add it, for me if you take it out, it would sound like something was missing.

For the second question, it's gives more imaginery, it's like saying "I like eating crispy apples" vs "I like eating those apples that when you bite into it, it's crispy"
