This is a good lesson, good for Newbie to Intermediate learners. I especially like the 从什么方面来看。。。 sentence, sounds quite fancy haha.

August 12, 2012 at 9:50 AMYes it is the 是。。。的 pattern, but here it's function is different as you have already noted. But you still have to add 是。。。的 in these sentences:
我看你们很合适，你们一个是水瓶座的(人)，一个是白羊座的(人)
Or like how you wanted to say it:
他是一个水瓶座的（人），另外一个是白羊座的（人）。
This function is so that you can eliminate the noun at the end for example:
他是学中文的（人）
他是做生意的（人）
Another example, there are lots of books around and you say:
那是我朋友的（书）
Gives you the option of taking away the noun at the end.

August 21, 2012 at 11:08 AMI know what you mean by the "e" sound at the end. To me, I interpret it as a casual way to pronounce words that end with "i", I usually hear girls do it.
