I have the same question as ewong about how to say "controversial" in Chinese.

Would "<吃狗肉>很有争议" (or should this be "...有很多争议"?) be an equivalent?

I think this was a good lesson, and I agree with some of the comments above that topics/lessons should not be "pre-washed" and devoid of any provocative content! Why should Chinese learners - any learner for that matter - not be exposed to controversial issues? Chinese may eat dogs, Italians eat rabbits, both animals are also pets to many. I remember a discussion we had in our family, ages ago, about horse meat. My grandmother held that eating horse meat was not right because a horse was a "noble animal", whereupon my dad raised the question why pigs were not considered just as noble. Views and judgements are very much a cultural thing.

I haven't tasted dog or horse meat (I heard dog was 不怎么样, though), but I don't think eating dog is that different from eating pork, beef, chicken, etc.

再来一次

啊，总算！听这词课就提醒我了，我哥哥好久以前 —— 大概是一年多吧 —— 请我帮他买《Ghost in the Shell》这片动漫。但恰好是因为我不知道了中文名字所以找不到片子了。那么谢谢你们CPod，现在就可以出去买下（我已经忘了我哥哥曾经提出来的wish。

我不太了解动漫，但是看到了一般也就喜欢（我的意思是but when I watch one I usually like it）。我到现在才看过《 Princess Mononoke》还有《Le voyage de Chihiro》（片名是不是这样我不太清楚）。啊，想起来了，曾经也看过一片比较残酷的动漫片，叫Appleseed什么的。我因为不太喜欢，所以就没看完。

So who can pick the movies that the two pieces of music in the dialogue came from?

The first piece is from Ghost in the Shell, or isn't it? I haven't seen the DVD yet (and that's precisely because I never knew the Chinese name!), but we danced to this piece in jazz dance class before (the first one, with the chanting), I really like it.

Second one: 不晓得, I've only seen a handful of animes in my life..

Some suggestions for future Qing Wen's from my side (I did not check all the past QW's - some topics might have been discussed in earlier lessons):

- 作 and 做 and where exactly is the difference, plus interesting little things like "做作"

- 上 and 下 and all the things that go with them (看得上, 看上去 etc).

- all those 过来's and 过去's (as in 你拿过来吧!)

- same for the 下来's and 下去's (他突然安静下来了)

- Iffy stuff: 如果, 要是, 万一

- all the "maybe"s in Chinese

- something I always get mixed up are the 转-things (3rd tone, 4th tone), but this might just be me.

- the eternal 了 and all its 用法.

- The Tao of 到, 倒 (or just the latter)
